Wet Felting Workshop With Lunch at Kings Heath Tearooms, 12-4pm
A friendly, supportive workshop designed for beginners or improvers in the art of Wet Feltmaking. Taking inspiration from the wonderful Kings Heath Park and Tearooms, you will be guided to create a composition based on a garden scene or a landscape inspired by an artist or art movement.
Suitable for complete beginners or the more experienced, you will learn (or revise!)! the basics of how to handle and lay out wool ready for a beautiful picture made from the technique of wet felting.
You will be able to choose other fibres to complement your work and learn how to incorporate them into your felt artwork.
You will also learn how to add detail to your picture using felting needles at the early stages as well as when your picture is completed.
The class is taught by Penny Dixon who has been felting and teaching workshops for over 15 years. She is a qualified teacher and also has a Masters in Art, Health and Wellbeing. She has led workshops at numerous museums, hospitals and community venues as well as the Midlands Arts Centre.
She has exhibited most recently at the NEC Birmingham, MAC, many hospitals in Solihull, Birmingham and Coventry and Worcester City Art Gallery. She is a member of the Heritage Crafts Association and also the International Feltmakers Association.
You may wish to bring a picture to work from, a notebook and pen, a waterproof apron and a carrier bag to take damp work home in.
You can choose your own inspiration but our starting points on each date will be:
