Exploring Scandinavian Breeds with Spinning and Weaving

Wednesday 18 March 2026, 10-4pm, with lunch

Warwickshire Artisans, Yew Tree Farm Shopping Village, Stratford Road, Wootton Wawen, HENLEY-IN-ARDEN, Warwickshire, B95 6BY

In this lovely, relaxing one-day course, you will learn how to work with a selection of Scandinavian Breed wools. Working with textile artist, Penny, you will identify some different wools and other fibres. Choose from Icelandic, Norwegian, Finnish, Gotland and more!

You will learn how to clean and card the wool. Then you will be taught how to make a ball of wool using a traditional drop spindle. You will then be able to use an easy, small vintage wooden weaving loom to create a small mat or wall hanging. Use your new 'art yarn' fibre that you have just spun, or a selection of lovely commercial wools on a shuttle to create your piece!

In addition to basic weave, you will also learn how to make traditional Swedish Rya knots to add fringing. (They're easy peasy!)

Materials, refreshments and lunch are included.

There is 10% off full priced items in the shop on your workshop day too!

Cancellation policy - Refunds are only available up to 1 week before the course date.  Less than 1 week, customers are moved to another session with mutual agreement.

In the event of there being not enough people at a workshop we reserve the right to request customers move to another mutually convenient date.  A week's notice will be given for this.
